What does life look like in a 55+ community? At Anindell, it looks a lot like the life you’ve always wanted—only with more time, more freedom and more opportunities to connect.

One of the greatest advantages of active adult living is the community itself. Your neighbors are in a similar stage of life. Many have recently retired, downsized, relocated to be closer to family or simply decided they were ready for something new.

And while this chapter brings exciting possibilities, it can also bring an unexpected question: How do you make new friends when the connections you’ve built over decades are tied to your neighborhood, career or children?

For many, active adult living is the answer.

At Anindell, a luxury 55+ community in Folsom, residents have built-in opportunities to meet people, try something new and discover their people—all without giving up the independence they value. With a full calendar of activities, there’s always something happening, but nothing you have to do.

Just ask Laurie.

A New Chapter in Folsom

Laurie and her husband, David, moved to Folsom to be closer to their grown daughter and granddaughters. The move also meant leaving behind longtime neighborhood friends, professional connections, a beloved church community and the familiarity of a place they had called home for years.

They were excited for their next chapter—but starting over socially was a little daunting.

Then they discovered Anindell.

Laurie quickly found that the community’s daily activities made it surprisingly easy to meet people and form new friendships. With multiple events and activities offered throughout the day, she could fill her calendar—or simply enjoy a quiet day at home.

So, what does a typical day look like for Laurie and David?

8:00 AM | A Relaxing Start

The morning begins at home.

Laurie and David enjoy breakfast together in their apartment home, catching up on the news and lingering over a second cup of coffee. There’s no commute, no yardwork waiting on the weekend and no long list of household chores demanding their attention.

Just time to enjoy the morning.

10:15 AM | Move & Connect

Laurie heads downstairs for a foundational fitness class.

She already knows several people in the class, so the workout is as much about connection as it is about movement. Afterward, she and her friends settle into the bistro to catch up, compare schedules and decide what they might do together later that day.

It’s become one of her favorite parts of the morning.

1:00 PM | Try Something New

Next up: Mahjong.

Laurie had never played before moving to Anindell. Thanks to a little beginner’s luck—and plenty of practice—she’s now a regular at the table. She even enjoys helping new residents learn the game.

It’s a perfect example of what active adult living can offer: the opportunity to keep learning, meet new people and discover interests you never had time for before.

3:00 PM | Lifelong Learning Experience

While Laurie enjoys Mahjong, David heads to the Sky Terrace for a Tech Talk: AI for Everyday Life.

The conversation explores practical ways to use AI, from planning trips and finding recipes to organizing photos, writing cards and learning something new.

Afterward, David stays upstairs to play pool and shuffleboard with friends.

There’s no pressure to participate in everything. There are simply plenty of opportunities to find what you enjoy.

4:00 PM | Wine Down Wednesday

Then comes one of Anindell’s resident favorites: Wine Down Wednesday.

The afternoon gathering brings residents together for live music, complimentary food and beverages, and plenty of conversation. Laurie catches up with friends about the Mahjong game, a book several residents are reading, their pets, their children and whatever else has come up that week.

It’s casual, social and easy.

As Laurie puts it:

“There are always activities to go to if you like, but there’s nothing you have to go to. It’s a very easy, natural social life here at Anindell.”

And while Laurie enjoys being social, David is more of a self-described homebody. Fortunately, Anindell works for both of them.

He loves the community’s movie theater, where they often head downstairs a couple of nights a week, grab complimentary popcorn and candy, and settle in for a movie.

As Laurie says, “Everything you want is right here; you don’t even need to leave the building.”

The Difference Between Active Adult and Senior Living

Before discovering Anindell, Laurie and David explored senior living and assisted living communities. But neither needed care or daily support, and those environments simply didn’t feel like the right fit for their lifestyle.

Then Laurie came across the words “active adult.”

Maybe, she thought, that was the missing piece.

So, they toured Anindell on their way out of town.

“Everything clicked,” Laurie says. “It just seemed like this is where we were supposed to be.”

Your Next Chapter Can Look Different

Active adult living isn’t about slowing down. It’s about having the freedom to decide what comes next.

For some, that means morning fitness classes and afternoons with friends. For others, it might mean learning Mahjong, attending a technology talk, enjoying live music or spending a quiet afternoon at home.

At Anindell, you can do as much—or as little—as you like.

Because this chapter isn’t about giving up the life you love.

It’s about having more time to live it.
